One of seven quick carve events was held Friday morning, Sept. 28, at Hackensack City Park as part of the three-day National Chainsaw Sculpting Invitational.

Sculptors each had 90 minutes to complete one piece. The prizes for quick carve competitions were based on the total amount the carvings brought in at auction Sunday afternoon.

Money raised at the auction goes to support the event. The theme for this year's invitational was, "Fall has it all up north, wildlife."

His carving featured a deer looking at the falling leaves on the water and under the water were largemouth bass. On the top, a pheasant was flying away, but the secret in the carving was the butterfly perched on the stump. Sharp called the carving "The Butterfly."
