The Nisswa Lightning was defeated by the Waconia Lakers 6-5 and Minneapolis Angels 6-0 at the Hamburg-Green Isle tournament last weekend.
On Friday, June 22, the Lightning committed four errors that led to six unearned runs in a one-run loss to Waconia. Losing pitcher Luke Schumer didn't allow an earned run while striking out six in six innings. Schumer also homered and drove in two runs while teammate Drew Boland had two of Nisswa's six hits.
On Saturday, June 23, Aaron Jenkins had two of the Lightning's six hits in a loss to Minneapolis. Losing pitcher Lincoln Messner allowed six runs and nine hits while striking out three in six innings.
Nisswa, 10-9 overall, is scheduled to host Fort Ripley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, June 29. The Lightning are scheduled to host a doubleheader on Sunday, July 1. They face Cuyuna at 1:30 p.m. and Flensburg at 4:30 p.m.
