Hens & Chicks Curiosities shop to open June 28

The new Hens & Chicks Curiosities shop will open on Thursday, June 28. The shop will feature antiques, art work, shabby chic, re-created products, gift items, collectibles, new items mixed in with vintage and old items. Hens & Chicks will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays through Sept. 15. They may also be open select Sunday afternoons. The shop is located in downtown Pine River in the former Heart & Hara Yoga Studio on the north side of Barclay Avenue.

A group of women, Jenny Hill, Sheila Hunter, Kris Kayser, Barb Mann, Marty Mann, Becky Stanton, Rhoda Swanson and Quinn Swanson, joined together to start this seasonal business. It is hoped that Hens & Chicks Curiosities will prove to serve a niche that is not currently being met.

They plan a welcoming atmosphere where shoppers can sit and visit outside under the canopy, and enjoy a simple cup of tea while also exploring the variety of creative products for sale.

Special orders on some items will be offered. Shoppers can select colors and designs to create a unique gift for a wedding or newborn baby.

New items might include cards, art work with a flare to appeal to youth, colorful scarves, quilts, garden art, candles and more.

Special themes throughout the summer will focus attention to specific products, such as a theme of 4th of July, babies, weddings, or the kitchen. Certain items displayed for sale will change regularly.

These women want to contribute to the fun of Pine River and offer people a place to feel at home and enjoy their shopping experience.
