Youth baseball/softball competition on tap Saturday in Brainerd

Young baseball and softball fans and players will have the opportunity to exhibit their skills when the Brainerd Jaycees host an Aquafina Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit and Run competition at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 22, at Jaycees Park in Brainerd.

Boys and girls ages 7-14 are eligible for the free event.

Youngsters will have the opportunity to participate in a competition that showcases their talents in core baseball/softball skills. No metal cleats are allowed.

The individual pitching, hitting and running champion in each age group along with the all-around champion in each age group at the local competition will be awarded and advanced to the sectional competition to be held Saturday, May 29, in St. Paul. Participants at the sectional competition have the chance to advance to the team championship at Target Field and the national finals to be held during the 2010 Major League Baseball All-Star Game.
