Girls' finish third in Menahga

The Pequot Lakes girls' golf team finished third on a rainy Thursday, May 13 meet, at Blueberry Pines in Menagha. Then on Saturday, May 15, the Patriots were eighth at the 17-team Staples-Motley Cardinal Invitational at the Vintage.

At Blueberry Pines, Grand Rapids won with a 329, led by medalist Mikky Kromy's round of 75. They were followed by Detroit Lakes' 359, Pequot Lakes 373, Staples-Motley 396, Cass Lake-Bena 476, and Crosby-Ironton 550.

Megan Lenz, who was one stroke out of a top-five finish, led the Patriots with an 88 while Chelsea Ekeberg had 94, Savannah Stone 95, Maggie Heggerston 96, Erika Schwalbe 101, and Audra Clement 104.

At Staples, the Patriots were led by Schwalbe and Lenz with 89, Stone 93, Heggerston 95, Ekeberg 95, and Clement 102.

Alexandria, with medalist Maggie Leland shooting a 73, won with a 327, while Grand Rapids won with 338 while the Patriots had 366. Other area teams were Staples-Motley 13th with 41, and C-I 16th with a 489.

The Patriots are scheduled to compete in a Mid-State Conference meet at Detroit Lakes on Tuesday, May 18, and then return to Detroit Lakes for a meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 25.
