Sand volleyball leagues to start June 8 in Pine River

Posted: WEDNESDAY, MAY 19, 2010

The sixth year of Summer Sand Volleyball in Pine River will begin June 8 and run through Aug. 12.

There will be no playing the week of July 4 (July 6 and 8).

The courts are located at Liberty Park, Highway 371, Pine River, next to the American Legion.

A park clean-up day is set for 9 a.m. to noon Saturday May 22, and volunteers are needed.

The program offers two options for play, a recreational night on Tuesdays and a Power League on Thursdays. Participants must be at least age 16.

The recreational night is informal and for fun, easy play. Participants may sign up individually or as a team. There is no tournament.

Start times will be at 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. with three game rounds per hour. Tracy King coordinates the recreational night, and pre-registration is required.

The Power League is for more serious players and is organized by teams only.

Teams are co-ed with a maximum of six players on the court at one time and only one more male than female on the court at one time.

Each team will play at least once per night and games are played on a women's net.

Nicole Hirschey coordinates the Power League, and pre-registration is required.

Child care for ages 2-9 will be available for a fee. Playground equipment is available on site. Pre-registration for this service is required.

Register online for either league and for child care at www.prbpayonline.com with a credit card or call (218) 587-2080 for a form to be mailed to you, or stop at the office located in the PR-B District Office just north of the PR-B High School on County Road 42.
