Woodtick Wheelers, Off-Road Education Trailer to be at Stompin' Grounds on June 5

Posted: WEDNESDAY, MAY 19, 2010

The Woodtick Wheelers ATV/OHM Club will host a spring ride in the State Forest on Saturday, June 5.

The club will have a tent set up from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Stompin' Grounds Lodge & Campground, three miles north of Akeley on State Highway 64.

Riders can access the ATV and off-highway motorcycle trails from the campground. The club will provide the public with up-to-date information on roads open to off-highway vehicles in the Chippewa National Forest, and will hold a fundraiser, selling Woodtick Wheelers T-shirts and $2 raffle tickets to win a new ATV and other prizes (winners drawn at ATVAM fall convention).

DNR-certified trail ambassadors will also be on hand, monitoring trails and assisting riders.

Also at the Stompin' Grounds that day will be the education trailer of the Coalition of Recreational Trail Users (CRTU). The trailer is stocked with more than 100 pieces of literature, including ATV, OHM and snowmobile trail maps, rules and regulations, safety training information, recreational ethics, club and association information. The materials are aimed at young riders and riders of all ages.
