Celebrate Spring in Pine River with the first ever Frost Free Friday event on Friday, May 28, during business hours.
Participants may stop in at participating businesses to pick up a free flower or veggie plug per family to plant in a pot or in your garden as a way to celebrate Spring and kick off summer.
Participating businesses want to welcome the long awaited Minnesota Spring and thank their customers for their patronage over the year. You may also pick up a free Pine River Guide that includes all the activities for the year and many area resources.
Frost Free Friday will also kick off the opening of the Pine River Market Square, a local farmers' and crafters' market, which will run every Friday through September (October, weather pending) starting May 28, 2:30-6:30 p.m. The Duck Races at the river dam will also run Fridays starting June 18, 2 p.m. with registration starting at 1:45 p.m. The Free Fishing Seminars will run Fridays starting June 11 at 3:30 p.m. at the Lions Pavilion by the river park. Fridays will be a happening place in Pine River so "Think Pine River-It's Friday!"
Participating businesses in Frost Free Friday include: Caffiend Coffee Shop, G&S Plants, Gardiner's Hardware, Hanneken Insurance, Happy Dancing Turtle (at the Pine River Market Square 2:30-6:30pm downtown next to Caffiend Coffee Shop), Hidden Jewels, Iron Hills Pawn, Lakes Area Pharmacy, Master Care Automotive, NAPA, Pine River Bakery, Pine River Cenex, Pine River Community Bowl, Pine River DQ, Pine River Legion, Pine River State Bank, Shamp's Meat Market, Stone Woman Herbals, Terry & Kim's Cottage Caf, Thrifty Living, Tradesman, Ultimate Liquors, JJ's Trading Post & Wireless Woods, and Woodland Bank in Jenkins.
