Hackensack, Walker awarded Small Cities Development Program grant

The Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) awarded the cities of Hackensack and Walker with a Small Cities Development Program grant on April 14. The $592,250 grant will be used to rehabilitate 8 owner-occupied houses, 3 rental housing units and 13 commercial buildings in the cities of Hackensack and Walker.

The cities of Hackensack and Walker sought specialized assistance from the Cass County Economic Development Corporation (EDC) for the preparation of a competitive grant application.

A community meeting will be planned in June where information will be shared. Applications will be available July 1 on a first come, first served basis.
