Pet pageant, parade on tap June 19 in Pequot Lakes

Pooches, ponies, pigs, pigeons, parrots and other favorite pets are invited to the first Pequot Lakes Pet Pageant and Parade on Saturday, June 19.

Registration will be at noon in the Pequot Lakes High School parking lot. The parade will begin at 1 p.m.

All proceeds from this event will go to the Heartland Animal Rescue Team (H.A.R.T.) in Baxter.

The day will include games, prizes from area merchants and raffles. Raffle tickets will be sold for $1.

Pets will be judged and trophies will be awarded for best pet costume/float, best pet and companion look-a-like, most unusual pet and best of show.

Pet related vendors can set up in Cole Memorial Building parking lot for no charge. Call Barb Merritt at (218) 568-4695 to register.

Pequot Lakes police reserve members will be available before the parade for pet licenses, and Pequot Lakes Animal Hospital will be there for shots.
