A Merrifield man was charged last Tuesday, May 11, with first-degree assault and second-degree assault for allegedly shooting another man in the face.
Michael Lloyd Daly, 51, faces the felony charges for allegedly shooting Randy Lebarron, 54, Merrifield, about 9:50 p.m. Sunday, May 9, according to the criminal complaint. The shooting allegedly took place at the home of Ronald Wisti on Semmler Road off Crow Wing County Road 127 in Merrifield.
Daly's ex-wife, Karen Daly, was Wisti's personal care attendant and on May 9 had requested Lebarron help with Wisti's care, according to the Crow Wing County attorney. Also present was Lebarron's girlfriend, Deltina Wise.
Michael Daly suspected Karen Daly was having a relationship with Lebarron and went to the residence to confront Lebarron and "get vengeance on somebody," the criminal complaint said.
Lebarron exited the residence with a handgun, fired a warning shot and was attacked by Michael Daly. Michael Daly had Lebarron on the ground with the gun to Lebarron's neck and chin area when the gun went off, the complaint said.
Michael Daly was being held in the Crow Wing County Jail. Lebarron was being treated at a hospital.
