The Finnish duo the Polka Chicks will give workshops on their respective instruments, accordion and fiddle, at Nisswa-Stmman.
Learn to play tunes, sing or dance, Scandinavian style, as part of the Nisswa-Stmman Scandinavian Folk Music Festival.
The workshops will take place Friday, June 11, in the Nisswa area, and they are open to anyone who has an interest. Workshops will feature top level musicians from Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Norway.
Bring your fiddle, accordion or guitar to the instrumental workshops. If you don't play an instrument, but like to sing or dance, sign up for the traditional song workshop or the dance workshop.
Most sessions start at 10 a.m. and continue to 3 p.m., with a lunch break in the middle. It is also possible to take just a half-day workshop.
All tunes are generally taught by ear, and participants are encouraged to bring recording devices.
There is a cost for the workshops.
All are welcome. For more information, go to the Web site workshop page at http://www.nisswastamman.org/stamma/workshops10.html, or contact Janet Hill at janet.hill@rocketmail.com or (218) 259-4090.
