Dr. Sara Lokstad, a family practice physician, is now seeing patients on Mondays and Thursdays at the Essentia Health St. Joseph's-Crosslake Clinic.
Lokstad, a major in the U.S. Army, completed a family medicine internship and residency at Madigan Army Medical Center in Fort Lewis, Washington. She was a staff physician at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, and was the primary care provider for the Warrior in Transition Unit, which cared for soldiers injured in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
She also deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and received an Army commendation medal for her service at the 115th Combat Support Hospital in Iraq.
In addition, she served as deputy commander of clinical services, for which she received a Meritorious Service Medal.
"I have wanted to be a doctor for as long as I can remember," Lokstad said. "As a child, our family doctor - who delivered all of my siblings and me, 7 total - made a great impression on me and what it means to take care of patients and families."
Lokstad received her medical diploma from the University of Minnesota School of Medicine in Duluth and Minneapolis. Her bachelor's degree is from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth.
Lokstad is accepting new patients at the Crosslake Clinic. To make an appointment, call 218-692-1010.
