The Peninsula Oilers must win two loser-out games to reach the championship round of the National Baseball Congress World Series.

That quest begins today as the squad faces the San Diego Waves at 2 p.m. at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium in Wichita, Kansas.

"Nothing," Machado said by phone Wednesday. "There's nothing that needs to be said at this point of the year. They know what's going on. We are two wins away from making it to the national title game."

After an hour-long lightning delay Tuesday night, the Santa Barbara (Calif.) Foresters outlasted the Peninsula Oilers 6-4 in a winners' bracket game of the National Baseball Congress World Series at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium in Wichita, Kan.

The Oilers had an eight-game winning streak snapped and now face a loser-out contest Thursday on the same field. The opponent and time have yet to be announced, but the game can be heard on 1140 AM.

On Tuesday, the game was tied at 4 through five innings when the contest was delayed because of lightening in the area.

The Peninsula Oilers used the mercy rule to defeat the Seattle Studs 9-1 in seven innings Sunday at the National Baseball Congress World Series at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium in Wichita, Kan.

The Oilers, the three-time NBC champs and five-time finalists, are now 3-0 at the tournament. They move on to play Tuesday at 7 p.m. ADT against the Santa Barbara (Calif.) Foresters. The Foresters have two NBC titles and four finals appearances. The Oilers and Foresters are two of the four remaining undefeated teams in the double-elimination tournament.

The Peninsula Oilers improved to 2-0 at the National Baseball Congress World Series with a 7-3 victory over the San Diego Force on Friday at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium in Wichita, Kan.

The Oilers, who have won three NBC titles, move on to play the Seattle Studs at 4:30 p.m. today. Ben Griset will start against the Studs, who finished second at the NBC in 2008 and 2010.

The game can be heard on 1140 AM. NBC games tend to start later than the scheduled first pitch.
