Hakkinen takes 24th place in pursuit

OSTERSUND, Sweden — Martin Fourcade of France and Norwegian Tora Berger won the pursuit races at a biathlon World Cup event on Sunday.

The 23-year-old Fourcade crossed the finish line of the men’s 12.5-kilometer pursuit with a comfortable lead and a time of 32 minutes, 56 seconds, despite losing one of his poles on the final stretch.

Kasilof biathlete Jay Hakkinen moved up from a 39th-place start to take 24th. Hakkinen had just two misses in the shooting-intensive pursuit. He finished at 35:22.
