Oilers face Foresters

Posted: August 9, 2011 - 12:09pm

The Peninsula Oilers will face the Santa Barbara (California) Foresters at 7 p.m. ADT today in the National Baseball Congress World Series in Wichita, Kansas.

At 3-0, the Oilers are one of four undefeated teams left at the tournament. Peninsula is looking for its fourth NBC title and its sixth finals appearance.

The Foresters have won two NBC titles and have appeared in the finals four times.

The Oilers also are looking to become the first NBC champion from the Alaska Baseball League since the Alaska Goldpanners of Fairbanks in 2002. The last ABL team to reach the finals was the Anchorage Glacier Pilots in 2009. The head coach on that team was current Oilers head coach Dennis Machado.

The game can be heard on 1140 AM. Games typically start a little later than they are scheduled.
