Patrick Wisdom had a go-ahead, two-run home run in the seventh inning to key the Peninsula Oilers' 8-4 victory over the Anchorage Glacier Pilots on Monday at Mulcahy Stadium in Anchorage.

Wisdom, the Oilers' No. 3 hitter, finished 3 for 4 with three runs and three RBIs. Hitting cleanup, Troy Channing was 3 for 4 with a run. Tanner Rust and Jeff Yamaguchi also added two hits as the Oilers finished with 12 on the day.

The Oilers stay on the road to face the Anchorage Bucs at 7 p.m. today at Mulcahy Stadium. Peninsula leads the league with a 16-7 record, while the second-place Bucs are four games back at 13-12. The Mat-Su Miners are 13-13, the Pilots are 12-16 and the Athletes in Action Fire are 10-16.

Monday's game was tied heading into the seventh inning. Paul Moeller relieved Pilots starter Derrick Dingeman and the Oilers jumped all over Moeller.

Mike Miller started the inning with a walk, then Chris Mallory reached on a fielder's choice ground ball. Wisdom then hit a no-doubt-about-it blast to left field to give his squad the lead. It was Wisdom's league-leading fourth homer.

Channing and Rust then kept the rally going by walking. Yamaguchi then singled to load the bases. Greg Anderson hit a fielder's choice ground ball to score Channing for a 6-3 lead.

Moeller lasted just 1-3 of an inning and gave up three runs in taking the loss.

The Oilers tacked on two more insurance runs in the ninth inning against reliever Jomel Torres. After Channing started the inning with a single, Yamaguchi hit his third league homer for an 8-3 lead. Yamaguchi finished with three RBIs.

The Pilots did manage to tag Oilers reliever Reese McGraw with his first earned run in league play in the ninth. Dustin Torchio had a single to score Kevin Hall.

The Oilers jumped on the board first in the top of the first inning when Wisdom singled to score Miller, and Rust singled to score Wisdom.

However, the Pilots came back to tie the game in the second inning against Oilers starter and winner Ben Griset. David Legg doubled to score Kavin Keyes and Adam Landecker.

Anchorage went into the lead in the third inning. Aaron Judge had a single to score Brady Hohl.

That would be all that Griset allowed. He went six innings and gave up five hits and three runs while walking one and striking out three. Brandon Kizer also pitched two innings of scoreless relief.

The Oilers came back to tie the game in the sixth inning. Yamaguchi had a sacrifice fly to score Wisdom before the same duo teamed up to put the game out of reach with their power in the final third of the game.
