The Central Peninsula Habitat for Humanity 2011 home is currently being built. We still have a long way to go but we couldn't wait to thank the businesses who have donated or discounted labor and materials to date.

The Occupy Wall Street protests are rather peculiar. One the one hand we see the trash and the noise from thousands of people who just seem to want to vent and on the other hand we see people exercising their right to assemble and protest. But the movement lacks something very important. They protest against what they feel is unfair but they don't offer solutions. They seem to be quite unhappy about the way things are going, but are not sure how to fix it. They'll gripe and complain, but nothing will be done. I think they all want jobs.

In reference to the article in the Oct. 24 edition of the Clarion regarding the proposal to allow aerial wolf hunting on the Kenai Peninsula and in response to today's readers' poll, it appears that a relatively innocent wild species will suffer unfairly because of the political cowardice of the Board of Fish and Game and our governor.

On Oct. 20, at Sterling Highway Mile 117, my truck fishtailed on ice and rolled over the embankment. I would like to thank everyone who stopped and assisted and gave me moral support. I would like to thank Central Peninsula Emergency Services (Kasilof) for the wonderful care they provided. Thank you to the Alaska State Troopers for the courteous concern in making sure my personal belongings were picked up. You are an asset to Alaska.
