Some say a person shows his or her true colors in a crisis. We think much the same can be said for communities in crisis.

When crisis hit our community last week in the form of destructive winds, our community persevered. Frankly, we're not surprised, considering the quality of those who stepped up to the plate.

Toppling trees, snapping power lines and ripping shingles loose from roofs sent our local emergency responders into a frenzy, but it wasn't anything we couldn't handle and that is something worth recognizing.

As the Skyview Football season comes to a close with a fantastic banquet last week, the coaching staff and booster club would like to thank the entire Soldotna, Sterling, and Kasilof communities for their support. With your support and the hard work of the parents and players we have hit program highs in participation, academics, and fundraising. With your continued support we hope to new highs in the 2012 season. Thank you for all your support.

As my son and I drove to Cooper Landing to get a little last minute fishing in during the last days of October, I got yet another phone call from a former YRC youth, just to talk and tell me what he was doing and to ask if he could use YRC and me as a reference.

After reading Eric Treider's "Occupy" letter to the editor (Oct. 28), I was compelled to do some research on the subject and found some very interesting facts that are not being published in the media. For example: Who is funding OWS, a supposed grass roots movement? By funding, I mean who is paying for the free food, Medical Care stations, The Occupy News Paper that is shown in every news clip? Google it and you will find the answer. You are judged by the company you keep!
