Mrs. Heath's 2nd/3rd Grade Class from Nikiski North Star Elementary School would like to express their thanks to the mayoral candidates who kindly responded to their letters. The class wrote to the candidates to ask them what they would do if they were to become the new borough mayor. We enjoyed reading the responses from Dale Bagley and Debbie Brown, and appreciated the time they spent on addressing our concerns.

This letter is in support for Fred Sturman, and a loving rebuttal of Marion Nelson's view of Navarre (Letter to the editor, Oct. 12)  and his supposedly wonderful past service to our state which seems to me, and as history shows, to actually be a service for self only.

Sure Fred like myself might not be a slick talking big word user like Mike is, but that's what's got my vote for Fred as I am sickupandfeed with professional politicians like Mike and their slick promises that almost always fall short.

Saturday at noon, the Nikiski High School football team will tee it up with Barrow to determine the state's small schools champion. At 7:30 p.m., Kenai Central will kickoff with Homer for the crown in the state's new medium schools division.

As our local student-athletes prepare to play in their First National Bowl championship games, hosted by Chugiak High School, we have two things to say: Let's go, Bulldogs! and, Let's go, Kardinals!

If there ever was a reason to get out and vote in a Borough-wide election this Mayoral run off is it on Oct 25th. If you value education, value the future of the Borough, quality of life issues, please, please vote on Tuesday Oct. 25th or get an absentee ballot prior. Early voting is good. Conservative is one thing, ridiculous is another.
