Our Alaska Permanent Fund  Manager sent out over 5,500 PFD checks to the wrong Alaskans today. Well what does that do for your confidence in the PFD management? White collar, highly educated, earning 6 figure salaries, the business world elite send our money to the wrong people!

Then I learn today that a "Wall Street type" has been hired as the Alaska Permanent Fund CEO. A pervious hedge fund manager from New Jersey!

Does any one besides me see something seriously wrong happening here?

There is an outstanding candidate in the Kenai Peninsula Borough Mayor's run-off race on October 25th. Fred Sturman is a self-made man who by his wits and hard work succeeded where many others failed.

He has a doctorate degree in Common Sense from the University of Hard Knocks. He never took a course in public speaking, yet he frequently gives public testimony in front of the borough assembly. His common sense and straight talk is a thoroughly refreshing change from "regular" politicians.

Yes, the moose population is in trouble on the peninsula but there are a number of things causing the decline, like the habitat going from good to bad, overharvest from hunting legally and illegally, and motor vehicles killing moose on the highways in the winter. Also, you have animal predators like wolves, black and brown bears, but now days, black bear numbers are down and brown bear numbers are up and yes, wolves kill moose but with brown bear numbers up they are the ones killing more moose then the wolves.

I would like to applaud and thank the drivers of the Peninsula! On Oct. 12 my 2-year-old daughter and I were walking along the Spur Highway in Soldotna going towards the Sterling Highway. There was a cow moose and her two calves nearby. The cow was on one side of the Spur and the calves were on the other side.

My daughter, who was in a stroller, and I had to cross the Spur and detour around the moose. Several motorists stopped their vehicles creating a barrier between the moose and my daughter and I, keeping us safe!
