Palmer's column, "Much Uproar Over Salmon" (Clarion, Dec. 9) is an embarrassment. Palmer asserts that nonresidents should "have limits for how many salmon they can take Outside." Sure, our summer visitors can legally catch as many as regulations allow, but they can only take some of them home. Welcome to second-class fishing.

Consider telling our tourists they and we resident Alaskans can catch all the fish regulations legally allow, but, while we residents can do whatever we please with our catch, our tourists are discriminated against on how they can use theirs. What's the difference in that and in telling our tourists, yes, they can ride the bus, but not up front like Alaskans. Nonresidents to the rear, please.

Bad idea! Our visitors should be left alone to do with their legally-caught fish whatever they please, just as we resident Alaskans can do.
