Central Peninsula Hospital announced Chief Financial Officer Jason Paret tendered his resignation Tuesday.

Paret and his family will be relocating to Waimea, Hawaii to work with North Hawaii Community Hospital. His resignation will be effective Sept. 2, according to a news release.

Recruitment for a new CFO has begun, and hospital administration will soon announce plans to hire an interim CFO.

Paret thanked the hospital’s management team and staff for their support during his five-year tenure at the hospital.

The Soldotna businessman originally charged with one count of sexual abuse of a minor and one count of indecent exposure was charged with nine additional felony counts after a grand jury indicted him Friday.

Joseph Rogers, 47, now faces four counts of second-degree sexual abuse of a minor, four counts of first-degree indecent exposure, two counts of coercion, and one count of second-degree attempted sexual abuse of a minor. All are class B or class C felonies.

The charges stem from Rogers' alleged abuse of a 13-year-old girl during a period of four months in 2005 and 2006.

A two-vehicle collision sent three people to the hospital and closed part of the Kenai Spur Highway Tuesday evening.

A gray Ford Expedition heading north on the Spur collided with a red Honda Civic turning left out of Silver Salmon Drive around 6 p.m. The Ford was driven by a 53-year-old Soldotna woman while the Honda was driven by a 52-year-old Soldotna woman. The Honda had one passenger besides the driver.

An Alaska Superior Court judge tossed out emergency revisions to Upper Cook Inlet salmon regulations July 13 and reignited a battle sports fishing groups thought they'd won at the Board of Fisheries meeting in March.

Combined with a huge and potentially historic surge of sockeye flooding the Inlet, sports fishing groups are now concerned that years of effort to protect Northern District salmon stocks and Kenai and Kasilof river kings will be undone by liberalized commercial fishing effort targeting reds to prevent over-escapement.
