A legislative committee is planning to hold hearings this month on an in-state natural gas pipeline.
The Senate Resources Committee is scheduled to meet Aug. 15-17 to discuss plans for the proposed in-state line. The tentative line-up includes the president of the Alaska Gasline Development Corp., which recently released a report outlining an in-state project. It also includes an official with TransCanada Corp., which is pursuing a major pipeline project that would carry gas from Alaska’s North Slope to North America markets.
This is the first formal committee hearing on the in-state line and comes as the state weighs its options both for commercializing gas and meeting the energy demands of Alaskans.
Testimony begins at 9 a.m. each day. The hearings will be streamed online at http://alaskalegislature.tv, or people in the central peninsula area can go to the Kenai Legislative Information Office to hear the testimony and discussion electronically.
