I feel that December 1 to January 1 is a great interval for Christmas decorations. If they're up too long, they're not as special, and you start to see more burned-out lights and other wearing down that diminishes the appeal. Celebrate Halloween (if you do), then Thanksgiving, then Christmas. I don't see the point of rushing Christmas, when there are plenty of other festivities to enjoy first.
