More than 50 people attended the Lake Hattie Lake Association’s (LHLA) annual meeting on May 25. Kevin Woizeschke, DNR loon specialist, reported on results of the Minnesota Volunteer LoonWatcher Survey and the population status and fall migration of Minnesota loons.
Also on the agenda were DNR Conservation Officer Nikki Shoutz and Cass County Sheriff Tom Burch and Chief Deputy Erick Hoglund.
Kerry Kupferschmidt, a Minnesota artist, donated a 2013 Lake Hattie loon watercolor painting for a drawing. Russ and Faye Johnson had the winning ticket. Prints continue to be available to purchase for $10.
Free laminated Lake Hattie loon magnets were given to those who joined the association or renewed membership by April 30.
The association hosted a picnic July 27, celebrating its 10th anniversary.
The association’s mission shall be to maintain or improve the living, recreational, environmental and ecological conditions of the Lake Hattie watershed.
