Posted: January 17, 2013 - 3:56pm

“Precious Waters: Minnesota’s Sulfide Mining Controversy” is the topic of a class offered at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, at the Northland Arboretum in Brainerd.

This is a film produced by The Friends of the Boundary Waters Wilderness that takes a hard look at the sulfide mining industry’s history of failed predictions and the threats new mines pose to northeastern Minnesota’s lakes, rivers and streams and sustainable economy.

Matt Hannah from The Friends of the Boundary Waters Wilderness will answer questions and provide insight to this controversial type of mining.

This program is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided.

This program is sponsored by the Brainerd Lakes Area Audubon Society.
