CO report: Ice conditions unpredictable

Posted: December 31, 2012 - 6:23pm

Conservation Officer (CO) Nikki Shoutz (Pine River) responded to TIP calls involving ATVs operating on the snowmobile trail to haul fish houses, trespass through private property to get to a lake with no public access and spearing over limit.

A snowmobile crash was responded to that involved a teenage girl who went to the hospital by ambulance for suspected broken leg and hip injury.

Delivery of the Christmas for Kids toys to needy families in the area was again done on Christmas Eve morning with area law enforcement agencies.

The program assisted a total of 86 families this year.

Many snowmobilers and fishermen were checked with enforcement action taken for fail to stop at stop signs, fail to display registration and no snowmobile safety certificate while operating.
