After studying Tae Kwon Do for more than four years, four area youth achieved a difficult milestone that few youth or adults accomplish. Ethan Hunt, Konnor Kurilla, Max Dwyer and Kaleb Sundstrom passed their examination and earned their junior black belts in Tae Kwon Do.

The four-hour test was a culmination of years of training that included memorization and mastery of hundreds of kicking and punching techniques, eight forms (patterns), self-defense and 25 boards to break.

In addition to years of training and normal weekly classes, the youth met regularly on Sunday evenings for six months in preparation for their test. Grand Master Ralph Truesdell (Minneapolis) facilitated the examination along with head instructor Kevin Littman and assistant instructor Ryan Hunt.

Tae Kwon Do is a modern martial art based on Korean traditions that incorporate the techniques of kicking, punching and blocking and provides a workout for the mind as well as the body, focusing on physical and mental fitness, self defense and self discipline.
