Blanchette scored all three goals while netminder Mitch Stangel made 31 saves in goal for the Lightning.

“We were up 2-0, and then we let them back in the game,” Larson said. “We were pretty much shorthanded for the final four minutes of the game, and (Mora) tied it.”

Blanchette, a captain from Aitkin High School, then won the game in overtime.

“Nick picked up the puck on a turnover in the neutral zone,” Larson recalled. “He split the defense, and put the puck in the upper corner of the net.”
