The Breezy Point North Stars two-game winning streak was snapped with a 9-2 loss to the Granite City Lumberjacks on Saturday, Nov. 30, at Breezy Point Arena.
Granite City, which scored five times in the second period to build a 6-1 lead, outshot the North Stars 55-30.Blair Seitz and Bo Borowski scored for Breezy Point while losing netminder Joey Bergquist stopped 46 shots.
The North Stars, 6-17-2 overall, host the Minnesota Flying Aces at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7, at Breezy Point Arena.
On Friday, Nov. 29, the North Stars defeated Alexandria 7-3 as Chris Hjorth tallied twice and Benji Smieja and Crosby Steen scored once to give Breezy Point a 4-0 lead in the second period. Alexandria rallied to cut their deficit to 4-3, but the North Stars answered with three goals in the third period as Blake Neumann, Blair Seitz and Smieja all scored.
Bergquist, who stopped 48 shots, was the winning goaltender.
On Monday, Nov. 25, Breezy Point defeated the Michigan Mountain Cats 5-1 as Neumann scored twice and Hjorth, Kole Kobel and Crosby Steen also tallied. Winning goaltender Troy Pierce stopped 19 shots.
On Sunday, Nov. 24, the North Stars lost to the St. Louis Junior Blues 3-1.
Breezy Point scored first as Spencer Sabourin tallied at 58 seconds of the game.
The Blues tied it late in the period and then scoerd single goals in the second and third periods.
Winning goaltender Cooper Cothran had 36 saves while Bergquist finished with 32 stops.
