The Pine River-Backus Tigers volleyball team hosted the Sebeka Trojans for Parents/Seniors night, and although they fought hard, the Tigers took the loss 3-0 by scores of 25-20, 25-18 and 25-20, on Tuesday, Oct. 1.
Megan Felthous led the team in kills with 10, followed closely by Journee Howard with seven. In the first game the Tigers were ahead 11-6 when they gave up an eight-point run to Sebeka.
The Tigers managed to take the lead back again 15-14, Sebeka tied it, and the Tigers went ahead 16-15. The Tigers were in the lead 18-16 when they gave up yet another run, this time of seven points, and were unable to recover.
Sebeka jumped to an early lead in the second game and the Tigers tried to work their way back but couldn’t quite catch up. In the third game the Tigers were down 12-15 when they went on a four-point run, including a block-for-a-kill by Callie Tilbury and an ace serve by Howard, to take the lead 16-15.
