Wisconsin edged the Breezy Point North Stars 4-3 in overtime in the North American Tier III hockey league action on Saturday, Sept. 21.
The Whalers led 2-0 after the first period before Breezy Point rallied with goals from Austin Williams and Crosby Steen in the second period to tie it. Wisconsin took a 3-2 lead at 5:37 of the third period, but the North Stars tied it when Jason Pischke tallied two minutes later. Jason Hoehn netted the winning goal at 3:29 of overtime.
Winning netminder Michal Marcinek had 39 saves while losing goaltender Matt Memolo stopped 37 shots.
On Friday, Sept. 20, Steen and Kyle Elberwein gave Breezy Point a 2-0 lead going into the third period against Wisconsin. But the Whalers rally with three straight goals and 3-2 win.
Goaltender Troy Pierce stopped 34 shots in the loss.
The North Stars, 1-3 overall, are scheduled to play the Granite City Lumberjacks in St. Cloud on Friday, Sept. 27, and then host Alexandria at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28.
