The Pequot Lakes junior varsity baseball team split with the Brainerd Warriors on Friday, May 24.
The Patriots won the nightcap 5-4 when Karl Satterlund doubled in Chad Christianson for the walk-off victory. Pequot Lakes trailed 4-2 before eventually tying it when Jared Sewall scored in the third inning and the Patriots made it 4-4 on a pair of walks and singles by Josh Buell and Sewall in the fourth.
Pequot Lakes lost the first game 5-1 as the Patriots scored their only run in the second when Satterlund singled and later scored on Hunter Larson’s hit.
Levi Puetz took the loss for Pequot Lakes in the opener. Chad Christenson, who pitched a no-hitter in a recent doubleheader sweep against Crosby-Ironton, went the first three innings in the second game before being relieved by Satterlund.
“We lost our first five games of the season before we started to put things together,” said Pequot Lakes coach Brett Dale. “It was a great way to end the season with a win over Brainerd.”
