The season’s first 60-degree temperature is expected Saturday, April 27, just in time for the sixth annual Brainerd Jaycees Run for the Lakes marathon in Nisswa.
The event will feature a kids’ fun run and 5K race Friday, April 26, and a 10K and half, full and relay marathons Saturday, April 27.
Following is a schedule of events:
Friday, April 26
2-8 p.m.: Health & Fitness Expo presented by Essentia Health at Grand View Lodge’s Gull Lake Center.
2-8 p.m.: Packet pick-up and last-minute registration for all races at Grand View Lodge’s Gull Lake Center.
6:15 p.m.: Kids’ fun run, downtown Nisswa.
6:30 p.m.: 5K run/walk, downtown Nisswa.
7:30 p.m.: 5K awards, downtown Nisswa.
Saturday, April 27
6:30-7 a.m.: Late packet pick-up for the marathon, half marathon, relay marathon and 10K at the Nisswa Community Center.
8 a.m.: Marathon, half marathon and relay marathon start.
8:15 a.m.: 10K start.
10 a.m.: 10K awards.
11:30 a.m.: Half marathon awards.
1:30 p.m.: Marathon and relay awards.
The all-volunteer race is organized from start to finish by Jaycees and carried out with the support of more than 100 members of the community and several local businesses.
All proceeds from the Run for the Lakes are donated to local non-profits and focus on improving trail systems in the Brainerd lakes area. The event draws more than 1,000 runners.
