The Pequot Lakes junior varsity and freshmen boys’ basketball teams split their final two games of the season last week.
The Patriot junior varsity lost to Esko 61-46 on Tuesday, Feb. 26, as C.J. Borleis scored 11 points, Hunter Larson added eight, Connor Davich seven, Jackson Goerges and Jared Hutchinson each with six, Lucas Mumm four and Erik Elverum two.
“Esko was a good team that really shot well from both the floor and line,” said Pequot Lakes junior varsity coach Brian Lempola.
On Friday, March 1, the Patriots jumped to a 27-10 lead on way to defeating the Sebeka Trojans 55-20.
In that matchup, Borleis had a team-high 12 points, Larson added 11, Davich 10, Hutchinson five, Lucas Mumm four, Jack Kreitz Jackson Goerges and Austin Mesenbrink each with three and Jon Bocklund and Elverum each with two.
“It was nice to have all 10 of our guys score,” said Lempola. “We had a good year. Seven of our losses were by four points or less.”
The Pequot Lakes freshmen lost to Esko 37-28 on Feb. 26 as Cody Huss had 10 points, Josh Buell had eight, Jordan Oaks five, Hunter Goerges and Gage Westlund each with two and Levi Palmer had one.
Against Sebeka, The Patriots built a 30-18 lead on way to a 58-40 victory. Buell led Pequot Lakes with 17 points, Westlund added 14, Goerges 11, Connor Dale six, Oaks and Palmer four each and Cam Boller two.
“The guys all worked hard, and showed a lot of improvement all season long,” said Pequot Lakes freshmen coach Bret Sergent.
