The Pequot Lakes Revolution dance team competed in the Section 4AA Tournament last weekend with hopes of advancing to the state tournament for the first time since being moved up to Class AA four years ago.
However, the Revolution’s fifth-place finishes in both the high kick and jazz categories were not enough to advance.
The top three teams in both categories advance to the state tournament. The three teams to advance in both high kick and jazz were Sartell-St. Stephen, St. Cloud Cathedral and Rocori. The team from Detroit Lakes was fourth in jazz, and Sauk Rapids-Rice placed fourth in high kick.
“Our goal going into Saturday was for our team to perform at its personal best,” said coach Amber Peterson. “I do feel we accomplished just that. Unfortunately, it was just not enough to advance to the state tournament. Our section, 4AA, in my opinion, is one of the toughest sections in the state and produces strong dance teams. This group of girls worked very hard this year and, each day, they continued to strive for excellence. Kristin (McSherry-Neale) and I could not be more proud of them.
“We would also like to thank all the parents and fans that travel to all the competitions and support the dance team,” Peterson said. “It is very important to all of us to have a strong fan base; the support is much appreciated.”
