Road Crew fifth at Big Bear Invitational

Loge, Phillipson earn individual titles

The Pequot Lakes/Pine River-Backus Road Crew wrestlers placed fifth out of 35 teams while Drey Loge and Anthony Phillipson won individual titles at the Big Bear Invitational in Cass Lake-Bena High School on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 14-15.

Hutchinson/Buffalo Lake-Hector was first with 213 points while Willmar was second with 164.5. Other top teams were Thief River Falls 151.5, Bemidji 148 and the Road Crew 147.

Philipson won the title at 106 pounds as he defeated Andrew Nissen of Cass Lake-Bena-Blackduck. Loge won the title at 138 as he defeated Parker Jackson of Detroit Lakes in the final.

Road Crew heavyweight Jared Adkins defeated Colton Pollock of Becker-Big Lake in the third-place match while teammate Jace Loge finished fourth after losing the third-place match to Austin Hjelle of Thief River Falls at 138 pounds.

The Road Crew is scheduled to compete at Crosby-Ironton on Thursday, Dec. 20, and then wrestle at the Perham tournament on Friday, Dec. 21.
