Volunteers needed

If you are willing to be a volunteer monitor at the boat ramps on Pelican Lake, the DNR required training is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 27. The training will be held at the Pelican Lakes Conservation Club.

There are no specific requirements about how much you volunteer. Whatever fits into your schedule is fine.

our greatest assets

More than 180 people turned out to celebrate the April 8 Week of the Young Child event.

Families were able to enjoy visiting with the Cass County sheriff’s deputies, K-9 unit, Smokey Bear and Early Childhood staff. Families participated in hands-on activities such as making butterflies, windsocks and vehicle snacks. They planted seeds to get our Minnesota spring growing and played with sand and corn in the sensory tables.

SADD thanks organizations

The Pequot Lakes High School division of SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) would like to thank the following people and organizations for their assistance in conducting our school’s mock crash demonstration: North Ambulance with special thanks to Mark Stansbury; Pequot Lakes Police Department; Pequot Lakes Fire Department; D and G Towing (for providing the cars); Bill Rickard (for setting up the accident scene) and students Savannah Stone, Abigail Palmer, Sabrina Aldin, Cheyenne Wilson, Emily Bickford and Charlie Roy. 

Respect our president

I hope Robert Olson has his facts straight about our “lying scumbag” President Obama.

His goal was to make us all hate our president. I believe the surest way to injure your own character is to attack another, which is what he has done, as far as I am concerned.

Also, his thought of swearing would have been bleeped and it would not have made him look smarter.

How about some prayers and respect for our president?
