In the letter to the editor, A. Martin from Merrifield continues to spout the lies and talking points from the far left, which wants us all to believe that Republicans, the Tea Party and conservatives want the less fortunate to go hungry.

Thanks to the fiscal responsibility of Gov. Mark Dayton and DFL legislators, Minnesota has a true budget surplus for the first time in more than a decade. This is in stark contrast to the years of budget deficits under Republican leadership.

House Members Joe Radinovich and John Ward voted for the unfunded "Bullying Bill" mandate. When you see your property taxes go up, remember, the unfunded mandate had to be paid by somebody.

Perhaps we should pass another amendment to our U.S. Constitution. Maybe we could eliminate an entire branch of our federal government (Congress), since it doesn't seem to be working any longer and has simply become a subsidiary of the executive branch.
