Strength through community

Posted: December 17, 2013 - 3:42pm

Christmas is almost here. The season when we give to those we care for, even our pets.

Many of us have a Christmas stocking for our dogs or cats stuffed with some treats or a new toy. Our “kids” even have a holiday outfit they grudgingly wear for a short time. These are the lucky animals.

The strength of our communities is proven by how we treat our most vulnerable. We have caring organizations aimed at our youth, elderly and others, but nothing for the homeless animals.

Paws and Claws Rescue & Resort is working toward filling that need. Much progress has been made in the last year, and you can be a part of helping fill a void that exists in our county.

Donate a Christmas gift in memory or honor of the furry, four-footed member of your family to Paws and Claws Rescue & Resort, 501 First St. S., Hackensack, MN 56452 or online at

Paws and Claws is a nonprofit 501(c)3, so all donation gifts are tax deductible to the full extent of the law. Help strengthen our communities in Cass County by donating to a cause that will warm your heart. It’ll be the purr-fect gift!

Betty Thomas,

President, Paws and Claws Rescue & Resort
