Democrats push gun control except for violent felons

Posted: February 26, 2013 - 4:30pm

In Minnesota the 2012 election put the DFL back in the majority at our state Legislature, so along with the governor, they are the party in charge.

Emboldened by these results, the gun control advocates swiftly introduced new legislation to put limits on the law-abiding gun owners in our state. The four bills now pending in the House are HF 241, HF 242, HF 243 and HF 244 and they’re all authored and sponsored by Democrats. No Republicans have their names attached to any of them.

Meanwhile, as the DFL wants to tell non-criminals what guns they should be allowed to own and how many bullets the magazines should hold, they also want convicted violent felons to be able to have guns.

What? Yes, HF 486, also authored by Democrats, would allow rapists and murderers to get their guns back. Does this make any sense to you? The hypocrisy is astounding. Let’s take legally purchased firearms away from law-abiding gun owners and give them to convicted violent felons. Amazing!

If you voted for Democrats in the last election, are you surprised by this? I’m not. Even if the DFL representative or senator in your district says they’re pro-gun rights, the party they belong to is not. When you put them in the majority, this is what you get.

Elections have consequences, and the DFL in Minnesota is just getting started. Don’t expect your governing body in St. Paul to give a fig about your 2nd Amendment rights here in the northern part of the state. They seem to care more about criminals having guns than you.

Hopefully, in the election two years from now, you’ll think a little more about what the party stands for when you mark your ballot.

Jan Schultz,

Remer

I'll post for Nutty.

I'll post for Nutty, since his vulgar rants are blocked.

"Er, duh, democrats are right. Only a rightwing wackjob radical wouldn't be for violent felons getting their gun rights restored. Duh, er, ah, pass the cheetos jackpine."

Jan schultz' misleading gun letter

Contrary to Jan Schultz's incorrect and misleading assertion that the proposed gun provision would "give them to convicted violent felons", the actual proposed legislation would allow felons to appeal to the Board of Pardons to restore their right to posess guns, at their discression, but only after they have successfully done their time and paid their debt to society.

Although I don't agree with it, and it is unlikely to become law, I think it is based on the long-held principle in our justice system that once a criminal has successfully done their time and paid their debt to society and have become law-abiding citizens, they can appeal to get their rights restored. Maybe it's kind of that "redemption" thing in the Bible.

The reason why Jan Schultz used misleading spin in her letter

Lately, the extreme right has little going in it's favor. Their base is getting older and dying off, as are their failed, discredited ideas. So like a good rightwinger, it appears that Jan Schultz felt the need to write a misleading letter in order to prop-up those old rightwing beliefs.

The letter would have been more effective and legitimate if it didn't resort to misleading spin.

If you prefer to be armed,

If you prefer to be armed, Vice President Joe Biden really wants you to get a shotgun. During an online town hall event recently, Biden advised women to get a “double-barrel 12-gauge shotgun” and fire “two blasts” outside if they feel threatened by a home intruder.

Well, now the vice president has some more gun advice. During an interview with Field and Stream, Biden advised gun owners to “just fire the shotgun through the door.” He also doubled-down on his claim that most people can “handle a shotgun a hell of a lot better than they can a semi-automatic weapon.”

What an idiot!

[filtered word] can't tell America from Rightwing World

That partially explains why [filtered word] is so completely out of touch with reality. He can't distinguish between America and Rightwing world, you know, a hateful, ugly, small-minded place where down is up, bad is good, wrong is right, Rush is right, black is...well...we won't go there.

Sleepy shows us he never had any script to recite

As an uninformed, uneducated goof, Sleepy never studied history. The Southern Democrats were far more similar to today's regressive GOP than today's Democratic Party. Racism is a subset of rightwing ideology. It's obvious from just looking at the birther buffoonery and all the racist code words used regularly on Faux News, rightwing hate radio, and the rightwing media.

But then you whackjobs wound never understand such things.

Only in a Nutty World

Only in a Nutty world are racist democrats more similar to republicans.

Racist democrats also came up with gun control to keep guns out of the hands of blacks.

Contrary to what illiterates believe, the KKK was an outgrowth of the Democratic Party, with overlapping membership rolls. The Klan was to the Democrats what the American Civil Liberties Union is today: Not every Democrat is an ACLU’er, but every ACLU’er is a Democrat. Same with the Klan.

[filtered word] doesn't believe in that history thing

He is so blinded by stupidity, he doesn't even know that the rightwingers of the Southern Democrats/Dixicrats from decades ago are today's southern Republicans and Teabaggers. Today, a white southern Democrat is almost as rare as a rational person playing with guns at Jaysoffhisrocker's survivalist bunker.

Jay says, "You cant argue with a Liberal. Its like arguing with a four year old about her imaginary friend."

I have to disagree with Jay. A four year old with an imaginary friend would be ten times more honest and consistent than liberals like Nutty, Jackpine, or Obama.

[filtered word] cannot comprehend meanings of words

He continually recites the slogan that was programmed to him, "words have meaning", yet he is incapable of comprehending the meaning of words, or that the meaning of words often changes over time..

Being gay no longer just implies being happy. Being a patriot has recently morphed into implying that one is a rightwing extremist goof. Being a Southern Democrat or Dixicrat of decades ago is far closer to being a Republican or Teabagger of today. A white southern Democrat is about as rare today as a compassionate conservative.

Poor Nutz

facts just seem to be a difficult concept to her ,,and many other libs.

"'The original targets of the Ku Klux Klan were Republicans, both black and white, according to a new television program and book, which describe how the Democrats started the KKK and for decades harassed the GOP with lynchings and threats.

An estimated 3,446 blacks and 1,297 whites died at the end of KKK ropes from 1882 to 1964. '
