First thing you hear is more gun control! What if one teacher or one janitor would have been armed. This nutcase may have gotten a few people or maybe none if someone had a legal firearm.
It is our responsibility to defend the weak and the innocent. I think all who can should carry a firearm, trained and ready to defend those who need defending.
How many more tragedies must happen at a “no gun zone” before we pull our heads out of our butt.

One of my favorite aphorisms is a quote from the Marechal de Saxe, an 18th Century Frenchman: "Not knowing what to do, they do what they know."
Lawmakers know how to make laws - so that's what they will do whether those laws are effective or even counterproductive or not. All they know is that there is a public clamor and they have to do SOMETHING - so they will "do what they know" - and we law-abiding folks will likely suffer a loss of our liberties because of it.

I hope to The Almighty that government at any level would not be so foolish so as to attempt to confiscate our firearms of any kind. If the the politicians who would make such an infamous law were the ones who had to risk their lives to enforce it, perhaps there would be no such law passed. I hope that LEO's and the military would be loathe to enforce any such clearly unconstitutional law and they would refuse to do it.
One memorable quote has been inscribed on a stone marker in the Lexington Common, attributed to Captain John Parker, leader of those 77 Lexington minutemen: “Stand your ground; don’t fire unless fired upon, but if they mean to have a war, let it begin here.”

"Gun Free Zone" = "Free Fire Zone" - until the Good Guys with guns get there. With the plethora a incredibly stupid ideas expounded by ignorant idjits in the wake of Sandy Hook, I'm amazed that no one with any authority hasn't proposed the elimination of the so-called "Gun Free Zones" as a good first step. It doesn't take a genius to recognize that virtually every one of these atrocities which have shocked us to our core has occurred in a "Gun Free Zone".
Nor can tyranny under our own government exist in the face of an armed citizenry, which is why every modern dictator has disarmed his citizens before they became subjects. In almost every case, the "sheeple" assented to it and even willingly surrendered their firearms, too.
