Mass murders in Connecticut

Posted: December 18, 2012 - 5:06pm

First thing you hear is more gun control! What if one teacher or one janitor would have been armed. This nutcase may have gotten a few people or maybe none if someone had a legal firearm.

It is our responsibility to defend the weak and the innocent. I think all who can should carry a firearm, trained and ready to defend those who need defending.

How many more tragedies must happen at a “no gun zone” before we pull our heads out of our butt.

You can’t legislate away crazy, but you can defend against it!

The grandfather

The Grandfather that shot his Granddaughter thinking it was an intruder.
Grandma's on the phone to 911.
Grandpa takes the gun off safe.
Doesn't turn a porch light on,
doesn't try to identify.
"Who's out there, who are you, whatta ya want?"
No, it's take the gun of safe and fire!

How do you distinguish who is responsible enough to defend?
The janitor who see's a stranger walking down the hall with his/her hands in their pockets, they might be a threat, open fire? Have a sniper sitting on the roof of the school with binoculars watching?

An officer at the door, school security. Someone that is qualified!

Where is your common sense?

So your saying we cant trust our Teachers and staff? Better look into home schooling everyone then.
I guess you would rather see the Teachers throw their unprotected body at the Perp like those hero teachers did in Conn. to no avail.
Do you know how many people are walking around out there legally carrying a firearm with no incidents?
Florida has almost a million carrying, thats one in 8 people I hope is there when trouble breaks out. MN. and Wis. have around 145,000 each carrying with the classes here filled every month.
A properly trained Teacher or staff wouldnt go off shooting people for no reason no more than the Police do.
I miss the days when you could bring a weapon to school for show and tell, get smacked when you were out of line and earning a Trophy instead of just getting one for participating.
Where is your common sense?
Now our POS POTUS thinks banning those evil semi-auto guns are going to solve the problem? No common sense there!

Do we want to recreate the OK Corral?

I'll make this brief. Are our children safer in a shoot-out in the classroom? By the same token, would airplanes be safer if everyone on board was armed.

The answer to both is obviously NO!

Whats the answer?

You are entitled to your opinion so what do YOU think is the answer?

You obviously dont understand trained do you?
If the staff was armed and a sign posted they are there would be no more shootings.
Have you ever heard of a mass shooting at a gun show or a cop shop? Absolutly not!

Wake up and live!

Chicago

The cesspool known as Chicago probably has the toughest gun laws in the Nation, yet despite all the shootings, murders, and bloodshed, you never hear a peep about this from the corrupt state run media. In Chicago, there have been 446 school age children shot in leftist utopia run by Rahm Emanuel and that produced Obama, Jesse Jackson, Louis Farrakhan, etc. 62 school aged children have actually been killed by crazed nuts in Chicago so far this year with almost two weeks to go. So why isn’t this news worthy? Is it because it would embarrass those anti second amendment nuts who brag about Chicago’s tough gun laws? Is it because most of the kids who were shot and killed were minorities? Or is it because the corrupt media doesn’t want to show Chicago in a bad light? Amazingly, no Obama crocodile tears either.

For those of you too dumb to get the point of this post, it’s to make the point about gun laws. No matter how tough the gun laws are, the crazed, nut jobs will find a way to get them and if they so chose, use them. No draconian law can stop this, no matter how well intentioned the law is, or if it’s just about leftists grabbing power from citizens and taking away their constitutional rights.

Chicago comparisons...

jaysoffroad apparently believes that the shootings can be eliminated if we also eliminate the "anti second amendment nuts", the "corrupt media" and the "leftists grabbing power from citizens and taking away their constitutional rights".

I'm surprised that banning abortion, birth control, gay rights and immigrants' rights weren't also parts of his solution.

First of all its not called a "Clip", its called a Magazine.
Second of all its not a "Bushman", its a Bushmaster. I own a few and hunt Deer, Bear and Varmits with them.
Third, what does the second Amendment have to do with Hunting?

You Anti-second Amendment people are really stupid.

another killing

I see a Man in New York just shot and killed 2 Firefighters after he lit his house on fire and waited in ambush.
He just got out of prison for beating his Grandmother to death with a hammer!
This fine upstanding Citizen cant have a weapon but he had a Bushmaster, just like the one used in Conn.
Do you still think more gun laws will help?

Shirt that New York gunman was wearing

I read that the crazed gunman in the New York ambush was wearing a shirt just like the one in Jaysoff's profile photo that has a picture of an assault rifle and says, "When all else fails, VOTE from the rooftops."

Justify

Jay, all you are doing is trying to justify having a bunch of armed and dangerous hooligans thinking they can beat the world with their guns. If I walked into a business and seen you carrying a gun, I'd leave. Yeah, armed and dangerous.

"Oh I like target practicing?" You mean shred the paper. Because if you are blasting away with a gun that has a magazine holding 30 shells, you can't miss. That doesn't take skill. Those kind of guns are not needed by anyone else other than those in military or police.
Use your head!

You said it...

At what point will you decide to start "voting" from the rooftops? If those liberals reinstitute the ban on the sale of assault weapons, large magazines, and other reasonable regulations, like a ban on internet gun sales? Or will you decide to "vote" at people when you see one of them "black helicopters" from the UN? Maybe a sighting of those Obami-commie Kenyan militia fellas circling your bunker in their armored Priuses? At what point will you decide to "vote" with all those armaments you've been stockpiling, Jaysoff?

Gun Law Fallacies

Guns can be dangerous. There is no doubt about that. However, the fallacies about guns are very dangerous, because they lead to bad laws. And bad laws kill people.

In 1993 Bill Clinton signed the Brady Act, which went into effect on February 28, 1994.

Even the federal government can't say it has made a difference. The CDC did an extensive review of various types of gun control: waiting periods, registration and licensing, and bans on certain firearms. It found that the idea that gun control laws have reduced violent crime is simply a fallacy.

The study found that criminals do not go to the store to buy their guns. Criminals don't obey the law. A law can repeal the law of supply and demand. If there's money to be made selling something, someone will sell it.

A study funded by the Department of Justice confirmed what the prisoners said. Criminals buy their guns illegally and easily. The study found that what felons fear most is not the police or the prison system, but their fellow citizens, who might be armed. One inmate said, "When you gonna rob somebody you don't know, it makes it harder because you don't know what to expect out of them."

Most states now have "right to carry" laws. The citizens are not living in a state of terror. Not one of those states reported an upsurge in crime.

Guns are used more than twice as often defensively as criminally. Studies on defensive use of guns find it happens at least 700,000 times a year.

Alex Kozinski, a federal appeals judge and an immigrant from Eastern Europe, warned in 2003, "the simple truth -- born of experience -- is that tyranny thrives best where government need not fear the wrath of an armed people."

"The prospect of tyranny may not grab the headlines the way vivid stories of gun crime routinely do," Judge Kozinski noted. "But few saw the Third Reich coming until it was too late. The Second Amendment is a doomsday provision, one designed for those exceptionally rare circumstances where all other rights have failed -- where the government refuses to stand for reelection and silences those who protest; where courts have lost the courage to oppose, or can find no one to enforce their decrees. However improbable these contingencies may seem today, facing them unprepared is a mistake a free people get to make only once."

In an interview with her

In an interview with her friend he said she was a gun collector and had several single shot long rifles that were part of her collection but that since her divorce she was fearful of living in a remote area alone with her son. That is when she starting buying guns of protection. But I suppose you would say that this man is a liar just like you seem to think anyone with a brain lies all the time. By the way I picture you as a middle aged single man maybe unemployed who had nothing to do but try to convince yourself that you are some big shot. What did you think I meant about a big gun makes you feel like a man? Maybe something other then a musket.

At what point will you shoot?

Jaysoff, you previously said you carry your "best friend" with you everywhere you go, including banks and schools. That's a crime, by the way.

I can see it now. You are goose-stepping around the high school, wearing that obnoxious fascist shirt. Every school has its bullies. Suppose a few super-sized bullies didn't like someone acting out like you in their school, and they started messing with you? Suppose it turns into a mutual thumpin', and you are getting badly thumped. Will you, as a self-annointed "good guy with a gun" start shootin' them bad boys in "self defense"?

"Jay, all you are doing is

"Jay, all you are doing is trying to justify having a bunch of armed and dangerous hooligans thinking they can beat the world with their guns."

So your calling all the law abiding conceal carry people hooligans? We go through an extensive backround check and have to be trained, what would you call the armed criminals then?

"If I walked into a business and seen you carrying a gun, I'd leave. Yeah, armed and dangerous."

Good riddance! I suppose if someone broke into your house you'd hide under the bed and call 911. Thats your choice, I chose NOT to be a victim!

""Oh I like target practicing?" You mean shred the paper. Because if you are blasting away with a gun that has a magazine holding 30 shells, you can't miss. That doesn't take skill. Those kind of guns are not needed by anyone else other than those in military or police.

What kind of guns? The "Big guns"? LOL You mean the
semi-auto's used for sport and hunting?
The 2nd Amendment shall not be infringed upon. Can you people get through your heads what "Not infringed upon" means?
BTW, I see I educated you on "Clips." LOL

"At what point will you decide to "vote" with all those armaments you've been stockpiling, Jaysoff?"

The weapons, Magazines and Ammo are flyin off the shelves! Sure glad I stocked up before our POS POTUS decided to step on my rights! Guess I'm not the only one stockin up.

The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.

WOW, thanks for the "Middle aged" compliment! I've been Married to my lovely Bride for many years and I've only been unemployed once for a short time. I really dont have to convince myself of anything, I'm very confident of myself.

"What did you think I meant about a big gun makes you feel like a man? Maybe something other then a musket."

Dont ya know, it aint the size of it, its how you use it! LOL

“Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.” (Quoting Cesare Beccaria)

There goes [filtered word] again

There goes [filtered word] again defending the indefensible. If there is a wrong side to an issue, he steadfastly defends it with half- truths, at best.

So in his mind, the answer is just more guns. No wonder the rest of the civilized world, without an insane gun culture like ours, sees us as immoral and crazy.

Fortunately, it looks like people have finally had enough of this insanity.

I didn't call it a clip! I called it a magazine.
You might know about guns, but you don't know how to read.
I never said anything about hiding under the bed, but I will call 911 rather than open fire on someone I think is an intruder. Like Grandpa did on his granddaughter.

The plain fact of the matter

The plain fact of the matter is that we don't know what we don't know. Someone can appear as rational as the rest of us one day and murder a dozen people the next. Should we become a nanny/police state devoid of any weapons of any kind, including firearms, knives, axes, skillets, candelabra, or anything else which can be used to inflict bodily injury or death? Or should we accept the fact that human beings do inexplicable and terrible things and we need to have the tools at hand to stop them?

I know what my choice is.
