Sharen M. Olek, 64, of Nisswa, died peacefully March 19, 2013, at Kindred Hospital in Melbourne, Florida, due to complications of treatment for lung cancer.

She is preceded in death by a brother, Carl Anderson; sisters, Mabel Hein and Karen Pannek; and stepson, Donald Olek.

Jean P. Morrow

Crosslake summer resident

Jean P. Morrow, 89, a summer resident of Crosslake for more than 25 years, died Monday, March 18, 2013, in Rochester, Minn.

Mrs. Morrow was born Dec. 6, 1923 in Palatine, Ill. She graduated from the University of Illinois in 1950 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. That same year she married George W. Morrow in Chicago. In 1953 they moved to Rochester to allow her husband to complete a residency program in internal medicine. They remained in Rochester when Dr. Morrow joined the Mayo Clinic Staff in 1957.

Melvin A. Johnson, 90, of Pequot Lakes, passed away Monday, March 11, 2013 in Tuscaloosa, AL. He was born to John and Bessie Johnson on July 11, 1922, in rural Pequot Lakes.

Dean (Buster) Russell Morford

Formerly of Pequot Lakes

Dean (Buster) Morford passed away March 6, 2013. Born in rural Cass County, Minnesota, on May 22, 1930. Attended public school in Pequot Lakes, Minn., grades 1-12; Brainerd Junior College 1948-50; and North Dakota State University 1950-52, earning a B.A. in Science Education. Obtained a commission in the U.S. Navy in June 1953 and served 26 years, retiring in Monterey, California in 1979.
