Alexander L. Donaldson
Alexander Leonard Donaldson, 89, of Pequot Lakes, Minn., passed away Oct. 5, 2013, after a lengthy illness.
Alec was born in Minneapolis, Minn., on Sept. 19, 1924. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in North Africa and Italy. Following the war he received a mechanical engineering degree from the University of Minnesota and worked for 3M for more than 30 years. Upon his retirement he and his wife of 66 years, Donna Reiner Donaldson, moved to Pequot Lakes, Minn. There, he was active in building the Crosslake Log Church, snowmobile clubs and Crosslake and Breezy Point building committees. He will be greatly missed.
Alec was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Alexander H. Donaldson; and his sisters, Eleanor Cowles and Elizabeth (Paul) Liechty. He is survived by his wife, Donna; children, Barb (Rocky) Chapin and Alex (Eleta) Donaldson; grandchildren, Eric (Ellie Lewis) Chapin, Laura Chapin and A.J. Donaldson; and great-granddaughter, Caroline Chapin.
There will be a memorial service Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013, at Crosslake Evangelical Free Church, 37218 County Road 66, Crosslake, Minn., at 11 a.m. with a lunch to follow. Memorials may be made to the Crosslake Evangelical Free Church.
