Lester Franklin Wilbur Netley, 87, of Pine River, passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at Good Samaritan Society, Pine River.
He was born June 13, 1925, in Lawton, Iowa. Lester served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a machinist mate in Hawaii. He was a longtime honorary member of the Cuyuna Rock, Gem and Mineral Society. He worked at FMC (formally North Ordinance/Northern Pump or BAE Systems) in Minneapolis for 36 years, retiring in 1988. Lester loved his job and spoke highly of the people he worked with. He attended Central Lakes College for approximately 20 years after retiring, studying welding, engine repair and showing students antique engines.
Lester was preceded in death by his sister, Louise Netley; and brothers, Robert, Albert, Carl and Arthur.
He is survived by nieces, nephews and special friend, Linda Rasinski.
A prayer service was at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, at Kline Funeral Home, Pine River. Visitation was one hour prior to the service. Arrangements were with Kline Funeral Home, Pine River.
