Jean P. Morrow
Crosslake summer resident
Jean P. Morrow, 89, a summer resident of Crosslake for more than 25 years, died Monday, March 18, 2013, in Rochester, Minn.
Mrs. Morrow was born Dec. 6, 1923 in Palatine, Ill. She graduated from the University of Illinois in 1950 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. That same year she married George W. Morrow in Chicago. In 1953 they moved to Rochester to allow her husband to complete a residency program in internal medicine. They remained in Rochester when Dr. Morrow joined the Mayo Clinic Staff in 1957.
She was best known professionally for her work in fiber arts. Her special interest was the development of a technique for utilizing fabrics and stichery to create works of art. She received national and international recognition for pieces of art based on this technique.
Survivors include her husband, Dr. George W. Morrow, a son Dr. George P. (Denyse) Morrow of Rochester, three daughters, Jill (Michael) Sisco of Bloomington, Minn., Janet Morrow of Minneapolis, Minn., and Sandra (Stephen) Spencer of Chesterfield, Va., and five grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013 in the Charter House Chapel, 211 Second St. N.W., Rochester, MN.
