Thanks to a Rural Low-Income School grant, Pine River-Backus Elementary School was able to hire Beth Switajewski to end its elementary physical education class shortage for the year.
“I am so excited. I’ve been ready to get back into the schools and work with kids and get started on getting them fit again,” Switajewski said.
Switajewski began teaching Monday, Oct. 7. She is a Pine River-Backus graduate with a degree in physical education from Bemidji State University. She also attended class at Central Lakes College and was trained in physical education, health and teaching.
Her past work experience includes substitute teaching for PR-B, Pequot Lakes, Nisswa and Brainerd schools and working at a Boys and Girls Club in Key West as an academic coordinator.
