It’s that time of the year again when we all get together and celebrate the library with this wonderful fundraiser — the Basket Auction and Social Evening.
This will be our ninth one! Saturday, Oct. 12, is the date, 6-9 p.m. at Deacon’s Lodge at Breezy Point.
Along with our usual fun baskets to be silently bid on, this year we have four quilts handmade by Shirley Bryant. They are being exhibited at the library, so be sure to come in to see them. One will be offered through a raffle, two will be live-auctioned and the fourth will be in one of the baskets.
What a great opportunity this is to socialize with your friends, eat scrumptious hors d’oeuvres and bite-size cookies and brownies and get a head start on your Christmas shopping. And help your library, to boot.
If you have something to donate, please bring it to the library by Sept. 30. Tickets at $12 per person are on sale at the library or from any library board member. You may also buy your tickets at the door.
October’s library exhibit will feature the city of Jenkins.
A special thanks to Dave Watt of Watt Automotive and to Lakes Gas for their support of the library.
Special thanks to volunteers Terri Grimes, Diondra Putnam and Jody O’Reilly and all their aides for planning and executing this year’s Kids’ Summer Reading Program. It was so successful and the children really enjoyed it.
And, as always, thanks to all our daily library volunteers. You’re over-the-top!
